Changing career from teaching
👩🏫Before becoming a Celebrant and Life Coach, I was a teacher, with a passion for Early Years and Special Needs Education.
🚸Supporting children who have experienced trauma and / or special educational needs along with their families was where the bulk of my energy went – desperate to close the gap between the vulnerable and more privileged in our society.
📔While I am no longer in the Education system, I will continue to try and use my experience, training and voice to contribute to the changes that are needed, but I am loving connecting with families who are going through major life experiences, from weddings, to end of life celebrations, naming ceremonies, to transitions that they are embracing with courage, needing compassion and support to get them through.
🥰Dress up days and educational visitors in school were theee best!! My pink tights were a regular feature in my working wardrobe!
💖I am a sucker for learning – I love reading and listening to podcasts or watching documentaries and, as you can probably tell by now, I get a lot of fulfilment from writing. Being a storyteller is such a wonderful life’s pleasure – being enraptured listening to someone’s stories and bringing them together with tender loving care in a way that speaks of them to all their guests present is a phenomenal thing to get to do in this new career.
I am using many of my teaching skills in my new career - from my writing, presentation, research, relationship building, creativity to multi tasking, organisation and communication skills. They are all being used with so much enjoyment and fulfilment!
