Involving Family in your Wedding Day
I'm the youngest of 6 children and favourite Auntie of 8 nieces and nephews, and now I'm part of a bigger family with Toby and his 3 siblings. It's fantastic to have such supportive inlaws around the corner from us.
Family means a great deal to me and it's something that Toby and I bonded over. My family provide so much love, care, support and generosity to me throughout everything I do in my life, while never shying away from telling it like it is or challenging me for my own good. We all love our cooking, travel and being outdoors.
Ensuring my family were included in important elements of our wedding day was vital to me. My sisters and 3 nieces were my bridesmaids and flowergirl. They were brilliant with ideas and planned the most hilarious yet relaxing hen do for me. And they agreed to wear the fruit salad combo that is me to a T! And looked class! One brother walked my mum up the aisle and read Scaffolding by Seamus Heaney which meant a huge amount to me because of the unwavering support he has always given to me throughout my life. One brother signed as witness to our Marriage Certificate. One brother was an usher and carried cash to pay suppliers. One of my brothers and a sister in law really should have been wearing a yellow dress and pink shoes because of all the unlimited help they provided. My dad, of course, walked me up the aisle and my parents and brother visited @ballyscullion_park and another venue when we were choosing where to get married. My wedding ring was my maternal grandmother’s and a really special moment was the ring warming, led by my nephew, so that everyone got to hold this ring that means so much to my family and provide their own personal wishes for our marriage.
